This paper provides a structured overview of the existing legal frameworks in Malaysia that can be relied on to address emerging AI risks across four key areas: data protection, misinformation, copyright, and consumer protection. To contextualise these frameworks, this paper examines their practical application through five hypothetical scenarios involving AI deepfakes, AI-related leakage of private information, an AI-driven telemedicine platform, AI voice-cloning and scams, and a generative AI design tool.
