We may also receive personal data through our clients, service providers and publicly available sources.

Purposes and Nature of Communications

We may process your personal data for different purposes, such as to enable us to provide legal services to you, to communicate with you in the course of business either as a client or as a business contact, to provide you with a subscription to our regular alerts or publications, to inform you about events for your information or participation in the events, to obtain feedback, to respond to your requests, to provide you with information that we consider may be of interest to you, to address regulatory compliance or legal obligations, for administrative or analytics purposes, and for such other purposes permitted by law (collectively, “Purposes”).

If you receive a marketing email from Wong & Partners, you will be provided with an automated way to opt out (unsubscribe) from that communication or from all marketing emails sent by us. Please follow the instructions on the email you received. If you have received an unwanted email from us, please forward a copy of that email to us.

Please note that if you reply to a Wong & Partners’ email address in one of our marketing emails or otherwise send a communication to us, your communication will not create a lawyer-client relationship with us. Do not send us any information that you or anyone else considers to be confidential or secret unless we have first agreed to be your lawyers in that matter. Any information you send us before we agree to be your lawyers cannot be protected from disclosure.

We may share and transfer personal data among our member law firms for purposes of responding to your requests or otherwise as necessary for the Purposes described above. Our service providers (e.g., IT service providers, storage facility providers, financial institutions, professional advisers), which may or may not be located outside Malaysia, may also have access to the personal data for reasons relating to the Purposes. We may also in limited circumstances share personal data with government authorities or others as requested by you, as required to protect the interests of the firm or others, as necessary in connection with the sale or transfer of all or a portion of the business, or as required by applicable law or court order.

We may retain your personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was processed, or as required or permitted by law. We will cease to retain and dispose of your personal data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as we consider such retention to no longer serve the purposes for which the personal data was processed and no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.
