Kuala Lumpur, November 2017 - Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker McKenzie International, won three awards at the 2017 Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards held in Hong Kong earlier this month, including the coveted "Malaysia - Country Award". Kherk Ying, who attended the awards ceremony on the Firm's behalf and is also the chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee in the Firm, said:
It was a very proud moment for the Firm, and also for me, as these awards reflect our continued commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in both our Firm and in the legal profession. We have held our first Diversity Forum in March this year, and are looking to run more events with our client community and within the legal fraternity in Kuala Lumpur. We want to extend the conversation on inclusion and talk about the importance of cultivating future female leaders and talent management policies which encompass a strong diversity agenda."
"These accolades recognised our Firm's commitment to continuously cultivate an inclusive, merit-based working environment where all of our people can build successful careers. As a firm where 52% of our partnership and 65% of our heads of departments are women, we are proud to have been recognised by Euromoney for the Country Award. We are enthused by this affirmation and will continue to work on our diversity and inclusion policies," said Andre Gan, managing partner of the Firm. "I would also like to congratulate Kherk Ying and Yvonne on the well deserved recognition of their work."
The Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards recognises lawyers who are influential and leading professionals in their chosen field, and firms that have shown outstanding achievement in supporting the development of women in the legal profession across different continents.
