The highlight of my internship experience was being staffed on live client matters. From drafting appeal submissions to attending hearings alongside senior lawyers, I was given the opportunity to truly immerse myself in the realities of legal practice. Although some tasks were initially confusing, the support and patience offered by the team allowed me to perform at my best and learn from my mistakes without fear of judgment. This honed my advocacy and critical analysis skills, enabling me to approach my academic pursuits with greater confidence and efficiency.

My internship at Wong & Partners was a highly valuable experience. The vacation scheme's rotation system allowed me to explore many different areas of law and gain exposure to a wide range of client matters and tasks. Highlights of my internship included sitting in on a client call, attending a court hearing, and joining a practice group meeting, just to name a few. The work was often challenging but provided many learning opportunities, and support and guidance was always provided. What struck me most about my time at the firm was how open everyone was to having a conversation and sharing their own knowledge and experiences, which greatly helped me develop my understanding of legal practice and its realities.

Serving in King’s College London’s Law Society, I gained an appreciation for the sophistication of multinational legal practice. Wong & Partners’ position as a Swiss Verein member firm of the Baker McKenzie network aligned with my career aspirations, which drew me to apply.
The internship stood out for its rotational structure, which gave me exposure to every practice group. Many of the partners took the time to meet with us, sharing their experiences and perspectives. I enjoyed hearing their views on how the legal landscape is likely to evolve with the integration of artificial intelligence. The experience was further enriched by associates who took the time to discuss my interest in banking law and restructuring, and entrusted me with related matters, deepening my understanding. Their generosity with both their time and knowledge was impressive, many shared their experiences and cheerfully offered guidance whenever I reached out for coffee chats.

My vacation scheme at Wong & Partners was defined by exceptional exposure across core practice groups and a deeply collaborative culture. I was initially drawn to the Firm's stellar market reputation, but experiencing the supportive environment firsthand truly set it apart. A true highlight was getting involved in tax matters; the work and mentorship I received here directly inspired me to pursue my Master of Laws in tax law at King's College London. Gaining sharp technical skills and learning from leading practitioners completely solidified my desire to build my long-term career with the Firm. I look forward to building on this foundation and returning to Wong & Partners to undertake my pupillage.
